Winnie Majani: The Best Bet for Vihiga Women Representative

By Julius Anyula, Political Reporter
“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.”
This is the quote that drives Winnie Majani’s mission, and it continues to inspire her growing movement across Vihiga County. To her, it’s more than words — it’s a reflection of purpose. As communities awaken to their collective strength, she believes now is the moment for Vihiga to rise — together.
Winnie Majani has quickly emerged as a frontrunner in the race for Vihiga County Women Representative, championing a bold, people-first agenda under the banner #UsawaMashinani — Equity at the Grassroots.

With a background in the banking sector and a reputation for integrity, Winnie combines professional skill with local wisdom. It’s this unique blend that has earned her the affectionate nickname: “the city banker with local connection.” Her work in empowering both women and youth has positioned her as a symbol of modern, inclusive leadership — one that Vihiga County seems ready to embrace.
Her Five Pillars for Transformational Leadership
Winnie’s campaign is built on five core pillars — not as slogans, but as values she actively practices and plans to legislate for if elected:
1. Empowerment
Winnie’s banking experience has shown her the transformative power of access — to credit, information, and opportunity. She has rolled out community sensitization on financial literacy and youth mentorship even before seeking office.
“We cannot develop a county when half our population — women and youth — are sitting on the sidelines. My mission is to bring them to the table and let them lead.” – Winnie Majani
2. Representation
Many voters in Vihiga feel sidelined by national leadership. Winnie wants to change that by being a present, vocal, and effective voice both in Parliament and on the ground.
“Vihiga does not need a Women Rep in name only — we need a voice that echoes our real stories, real struggles, and real solutions in the halls of Parliament.”
3. Equality
In a culturally diverse county, equitable development remains a sensitive but crucial goal. Winnie is committed to delivering resources fairly across all sub-counties and ensuring both the girl and boy child receive attention.
“Usawa Mashinani means no child goes to school hungry, no woman is left out of opportunity, and no village is ignored when resources are shared.”
4. Respect
In an era where divisive politics thrives, Winnie is charting a different path — one anchored in humility and mutual respect.
“Leadership must be anchored in humility and service, not insults and entitlement. I choose to lead with dignity and bring people together.”
5. Accountability
Winnie is pledging transparency in use of Women Rep funds, participatory budgeting, and regular community updates.
“I know what it means to account for every shilling. Vihiga deserves leadership that values transparency, not transactions.”
A Community-Rooted Campaign
Winnie has maintained strong ties with all corners of the county — Maragoli, Bunyore, Tiriki, and beyond. She’s a regular presence in church gatherings, youth forums, women’s groups, and local business spaces. Her humility and empathy resonate deeply with ordinary citizens, many of whom see in her a leader who listens and understands.
“I am not here to make noise — I am here to make a difference. And I will not rest until every woman, every youth, every village in Vihiga feels seen, heard, and served.”
As the 2027 elections draw near, Winnie Majani’s message is gaining traction across social and political divides. With her #UsawaMashinani agenda, she represents a leadership shift Vihiga County may be ready for — one rooted in values, not vanity.
