In the heart of Hamisi, where the hills of Vihiga meet a population hungry for transformation, a new political voice is rising — Elphas Amadadi Boge. Poised to succeed the incumbent MP Charles Gimose in 2027, Boge is fast gaining ground as the people’s candidate, anchored in humility, grassroots connection, and an unwavering commitment to education and empowerment.
To borrow from the words of Chinua Achebe, Boge is a man who “walks slowly but carries a big stick” — quietly determined yet unshakably resolute in his vision.
Raised in modest circumstances within Hamisi, Boge’s own journey from barefoot childhood to national attention embodies the very challenges he now seeks to address. “I know what it means to walk to school on an empty stomach,” he says. “That’s why I’m committed to changing the narrative for the next generation.”
Through the Elphas Boge Foundation, he has sponsored numerous children to attend both formal education and vocational training. His message is clear: “Education is the only true equalizer. I am a product of it, and by investing in it, we eradicate crime, empower families, and build a better nation.”
With institutions such as Kaimosi Teachers’ College and Kaimosi Friends University College within the constituency, Boge laments the low enrollment of local students and pledges to increase access and awareness. “It breaks my heart to see our youth miss out on opportunities within reach. That must change,” he asserts.
Uplifting the Vulnerable: From Housing to Youth Empowerment
Beyond education, Boge has distinguished himself in community support programs — most notably, constructing houses for vulnerable families, especially widows and the elderly.
“My greatest joy is seeing smiles on the faces of our elderly when they receive shelter. That joy is priceless. I believe transformation begins by caring for those often forgotten,” he explains.
Hamisi’s housing crisis, worsened by poverty and inadequate infrastructure, is a challenge Boge is tackling head-on. His community-driven approach has endeared him to many.
With over 70% of Hamisi’s population made up of youth, Boge has placed youth empowerment at the center of his campaign. His foundation has supported numerous youth-led projects, from poultry farming and car washes to small-scale enterprises.
“There is no dignity in poverty,” he emphasizes. “As MP, I will actively lobby development partners and friends of Hamisi to invest in sustainable, income-generating projects that uplift our people.”
A New Dawn for Hamisi?
While acknowledging the strides made by current MP Charles Gimose, Boge believes it’s time for a fresh vision and renewed energy in Hamisi’s leadership.
“Our MP has done some commendable work. But Hamisi needs a different tempo — one driven by passion, proximity to the people, and a new urgency to deliver. I believe I am that fresh breath,” he says confidently.
As the 2027 elections near, Elphas Boge stands out not just as a politician, but as a community builder — one whose work speaks louder than slogans, and whose roots run deep in the soil of Hamisi.
If his growing popularity and community track record are anything to go by, Hamisi could well be on the verge of a transformative shift.
