Make Europe day tournament an annual event: Chief officer Oscar Igaida.

Chief Officer for Youth Talent and Sports Oscar Igaida has hailed the European Union for the successful hosting of the Europe Day soccer tournament.
Speaking at the Upperhill Highschool in Nairobi where the county of Nairobi and the EU has been holding the event, Mr Igaida louded the EU for the noble initiative. Nairobi City County is among 3 other counties that have been participating in the tournament. These are Kilifi, Marsabit and Homabay counties that will battle it out in the finals on 17th May 2024 at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Langata Sub County Nairobi. The winners of the tournament will travel to Europe for 10 days to celebrate the win as they explore the world of football in Europe

Nairobi County: The European Union has come at an ideal time and we have appealed to them to make this(Europe Day Kenya Football Tournament) an annual event. It will give hope to the kids, especially from the Slums.
In Nairobi, selected boys and girls teams from Makadara, Starehe, Dagoretti, Kibra, Embakasi, Kasarani and Waithaka have been battling it out at Upperhill school.. These teams were selected in line with Governor Sakaja’s manifesto to nature and monetize youth talent in Nairobi by giving them platforms to showcase their talents and give them an opportunity to be recognized internationally for those scouting for talent.
The Nairobi City County’s Youth, Talent and Sports subsector, European Union Delegation to Kenya together with its Member States and with the support of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports has been organising a Europe Day Kenya Football Tournament so as to celebrate Europe Day with young people.


Highway are the champions of Nairobi Region in the European Union Day Kenya Tournament.
The tournament started on Saturday 11/05/2024 and ended on Sunday 12/05/2024 with Highway Soccer team being crowned the winners.
They will represent the Region in the National Championships of the same tournament on Friday 17/05/2025 at the Ulinzi Complex. The winners will have an opportunity to tour Europe for special training in addition to other goodies.
The tournament is a celebration of youth, diversity and the unifying power of football.
Participants are drawn from teams across the city for both boys and girls under 18 years of age. The tournament will foster personal development, discipline and teamwork essential for personal and societal progress
