Gov Sakaja pours praises on Chief officer Disaster response and management Mr Simiyu Bramwel during a pass out parade of 93 firemen


Nairobi county governor Hon Johnson Sakaja has praised his chief officer incharge of disaster management Mr Bramwel Simiyu for his exemplary service to Nairobians.

Speaking during a pass out parade of 93 firefighters, Gov Sakaja said that ever since he appointed Mr Simiyu, the disaster responses and approach has been to the global standards thanks to the hardworking officer.

Governor Sakaja commended the chief officer for transforming the way disaster response and management is undertaken at the city county.

When I appointed Bramwel to this docket, I knew pretty well that he had never undertaken such a humongous task before but he has transformed the way things are done here. Actually he has become a global expert in matters disaster response and management. Bramwel has employed a holistic approach in this sector which has so far ensured results” observed governor Sakaja.

Congratulations to our disaster management sector for the reforms and service delivery improvements. We shall soon be opening our Centre of Excellence that will offer disaster and fire rescue training and certification to students from across the region” added Gov Sakaja.

Speaking during the event, Mr Simiyu thanked  the firemen for their sacrifice and dedication to  duty.

I want to sincerely congratulate you for the high discipline you have exhibited during your training period. Fire fighting is such a delicate duty that demands total sacrifice. Whenever there is fire outbreak, everybody runs away from the scene but it’s only you who runs towards the scene endangering your own lives in order to save property and lives of others” said Mr Simiyu.

On the heavy rains across the city, Mr Simiyu commended the green army for the good job done so far.

The green army that comprises of dedicated young men and women has so far helped minimise flooding risks in the city by unclogging several water ways. These efforts have reduced flooding in the city and we must commend them for their good work besides thanking governor Sakaja for this very noble initiative” added Mr Simiyu.
