Nairobi youth leader and MCA Upper Savannah Ward Nairobi was hit by a police projectile while leading demonstrations in Jacaranda. The MCA was on the frontlines leading a group of youths who have been demonstrating against high food prices and rise in fuel prices.
The flamboyant MCA known for wearing expensive jewellery and stylish suits was hit in the head and his hand broken. He is recuperating in a Nairobi hospital after he was rescued by Azimio supporters, reports indicate he would have been severely injured if it was not for quick action of some of the youths who shielded him from more blows from the anti riot policemen.
Jacaranda has been a war zone for the better part of Thursdays demonstration, the field that is usually used to hold Bunge la mwananchi was barricaded by armed policemen from the GSU anti riot unit.
On Wednesday heading into the demos called by Azimio opposition leader, Bunge La Mwananchi leader Gaucho had indoctrinated youths and lead an Oath by sacrificing a sheep at the Jacaranda field in readiness for a blood bath with policemen.
Earlier in the day on Thursday Regional Police Commander Mr. Bungei visited Jacaranda field and vowed there was no Azimio Rally or demos that would take place in that field.
Azimio Leader Raila Amollo Odinga has in a previous presser vowed to press charges against Mr. Bungei.
