Azimio MCAs support Abbas for Majority leader

South C Member of the Nairobi City County Assembly (MCA) Abbas Khalif is all set to become the Nairobi County Majority leader.
With the election of the Speaker already concluded, where former deputy speaker Ken Ng’ondi bounced back to become the new Speaker, focus has now shifted to party house leadership with the majority in the house is the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya side.
Abbas has already emerged the most popular candidate for the majority leadership following his dedication to the party’s activities and the recent election of the Speaker.
“Abbas dedicated his time to campaign for the Azimio candidate in the election of speaker last Thursday. He used his connections, intelligence and resources to keep the Azimio MCA’S together to avoid interference from a Kenya Kwanza operative that was busy trying to woo tem into backing the Kenya Kwanza candidate,” one MCA told us of the happenings.
“We will back Abbas because he has already demonstrated his ability to lead us as the majority side in the assembly,” the youthful MCA continued.
Last week during a thanksgiving ceremony, Ng’ondi disclosed that the election was marred by alleged bribery from the Kenya Kwanza side but these efforts were thwarted by his close ally Abbas.
It is his efforts to keep the MCAs together that ensured Ngondi won.
The South C MCA is also said to have been successful to thwart a last minute attempt by Kenya Kwanza to secretly woo the eight MCAs of Somali origin to support Hassan Mohamed Robow.
Majority of Azimio stakeholders and party officials are in support of Abbas assuming the majority leader position in the house due to his ability to hold the Azimio team at cityhall together.
