Vaida hitmaker basks in glory as Ruto dances to the tune, But who is Harry Richie?
Harry Richie has brought Vihiga county fame in the last few days. The only other time that Vihiga county was trending was when Wajackoyah brought the ganja gospel to Bunyore.
Born Harrison Ondunyi in Bunyore, Vihiga County, Emang’ali Emuhondo, Richie is the third born in a family of eight and also the first son of the late Richard Makomele.
Back home, he went to Emuhondo Primary School from 1997 and later joined Ebunangwe Boys, then Kisumu Industrial training centre and finally Kenya Polytechnic.
Away from music, Richie is involved in building construction, a skill he earned from Kisumu Industrial training center.
Harry Richie started as a gospel artist. He has also done several spoken word which too have ruled the airwaves. His rich message centered ariund family and family values have earned him accollades.
“I give thanks to God for enabling me meet and be mentored by Shisia he of the Mundu Mulosi gospel tune. Shisia has made me become even better. I will forever be indebted to him” he says.

I wrote and sang Vaida yo help encourage people. The current life challenges has forced couples to stay apart. Satan is not happy with the institution of marriage and he will do everything to put a sunder what God has put together. In the song Iam only encouraging them to remain true to their vows.” He said.

On this, Harry says luhya women are too pretty, and hard working hence his praises.
Bunyore is home to music legends like Shem Tube, Isaiah Symekher, Laban Ochuka (of Maroon Commandos fame) and the Jabali Afrika group. Others include Man Kale, Clayton Omwanga and. Sila wa Sila .
As Richie pointed out, Tube (who died in February last year) is famous for songs like Ägneta Mama and Mrembo Sofaa was from a neighbouring location. While Symekher was best known for his gospel songs with the IFC Jericho Choir like Yesu ni Uzima
Harry Richie is not stopping here yet, he says the sky is the limit.
