Nominated MP Hon Godfrey Osotsi has issued demands to the inspector general of Police Hillary Mutyambai lamenting on the ongoing crackdown on the Boda Boda riders across the nation.

Leadership is about keeping promises and securing the interests of your people. Today I have demanded a statement from the Inspector General of Police on the ongoing crackdown on Boda Boda riders without licenses. The speaker has directed that the IG and the interior ministry gives a comprehensive response in 2 weeks. I promised Boda Boda youth during my recent function at Manyatta, Vihiga sub-county that I will raise their concerns in parliament and I have kept my word on the first day of the new session of parliament that opened today.

Hon Osotsi said.

Last week, Hon Osotsi who has also declared his intentions to run for Vihiga senatorship met Vihiga Boda Boda Sacco where they presented their plight to them and he promised to take the matter forward which culminated into today’s demand at the floor of the house.

According to a document which contained a raft of measures that the MP Want to be taken into consideration include..

The ministry should give a number of licenses issued to Boda Boda riders so far.

The ministry should make open measures put in place to ensure proper coordination of Boda Bodas by the police, NTSA, and other relevant authorities.

The Mp further wants the ministry and NTSA to explain why there has been a delay in the issuance of licenses to Boda Boda riders despite their having complied with set requirements.

The Vihiga senatorship has attracted several candidates with Hon Osotsi hitting the ground running in a bid to replace Hon Khaniri who is being rumored to be eyeing a bigger seat in the forthcoming elections.

Hon Osotsi a staunch proponent of the handshake and the BBI has also traversed the vast Vihiga county initiating development projects and marketing the BBI in readiness for the forthcoming referendum.

However he will have to square it out with Hon Jackson Kedogo Swadi a second time MCA from Nandi county but will be running in Vihiga his ancestral home. Others who could be running for the same seat include former Mp and speaker of the national assembly Hon Marende Kenneth, and a new comer Leonard Ongadi a businessman based in the USA.
