Ahmednasir:Don’t waste your money on Maraga’s campaign

Ahmednasir Dismisses Maraga’s Bid, Faces Backlash from Senator Omogeni
Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has stirred fresh controversy after publicly ridiculing former Chief Justice David Maraga’s rumored presidential ambitions, calling him “filthy rich” and unworthy of public support.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) page, Ahmednasir urged Kenyans not to donate to Maraga’s campaign, saying:
“Don’t waste your money. This clown isn’t worth a penny of your hard-earned money… and he is FILTHY RICH to underwrite his campaign.”
The comment sparked widespread backlash online, with a section of Kenyans accusing the outspoken lawyer of arrogance and disrespect. Among those who publicly rebuked Ahmednasir was Nyamira Senator Hon. Okong’o Omogeni, a fellow lawyer and close ally of Maraga.
In a strongly worded response, Omogeni accused Ahmednasir of hiding “pettiness and village arrogance behind designer suits and shortcut lawyering.”
“Your uncouth jabs at Chief Justice (Rtd) Maraga expose the pettiness and village arrogance hidden behind designer suits and shortcut lawyering,” Omogeni fired back.
“To call a dignified elder and senior counsel ‘filthy rich’ and a ‘clown’ reeks of insecurity and envy. In mature democracies, noble leadership bids are supported by the public purse. Maraga’s integrity and timing resonate deeply—he doesn’t need Ahmednasir’s permission or warped lens to seek national redemption.”
Maraga, who served as Kenya’s Chief Justice from 2016 to 2021, has not officially declared a presidential bid, but growing public admiration for his principled leadership continues to fuel speculation.
The war of words between the two senior lawyers highlights the growing tensions as the 2027 political landscape begins to take shape—with integrity, wealth, and credibility likely to dominate the conversation.
