Fight war against Covid-19 Not innocent citizens! STOP POLICE BRUTALITY – Says Mudavadi

The curfew is not 24 hours old yet public outcry is loud and all Kenyans have jumped onto social media asking the meaning of the curfew because the brutality that has come out is too much to bear.

Poor folks who were returning home have seen and felt the hand of beating and clobbering which many didn’t expect the start of the curfew will begin like that.

Political leaders and Kenyans at large have been shocked at the manner in which ordinary and unarmed civilians have encountered slashes on their backs from police officers whose mandate was either to escort them home or at least not to use excessive force…

Hon Musalia Mudavadi has led senior politicians and lawmaker is decrying the force and power the police have used on the innocent citizens…

In his tweet, the ANC boss was categorical,

” Kenyans are already economically distressed & now terrified of COVID-19. They need help & guidance. Enforcement of the curfew does not mean terror & brutality to the mwanainchi. Treat the citizenry with civility. H.E.Musalia Mudavadi via Twitter

Professor Makau Mutua another controversial lawyer wrote:
The Kenyan state has unleashed TERROR on citizens under the GUISE of a CURFEW to fight coronavirus. BRUTALITY and SAVAGERY at their WORST.

James Orengo a walking law dictionary wrote :

A state of emergency does not by itself ineluctably limit or suspend the Bill of Rights. There must be legislation. In any case national security must be pursued in compliance with the rule of law & human rights.Police must not enforce curfew with might but love & fight Covid-19.

Kipchumba Murkomen just asked a question…

Is this surely about COVID19 ?

Mwalimu Dida was not kind to the police:

We must assess the kind of training in Kiganjo. Police officers can’t comprehend simple instructions. Curfew is to ensure that there are as few people as possible. Crowding innocent Kenyans in this manner beats logic. Effects of picking candidates based on the number of teeth.

Martha Karua,
Was spot on with the government as she wrote:

Terrorising commuters at Likoni ferry with tear gas and beatings is unacceptable! The inadequacy of the available mode of transport rests squarely on the government . Lets hope no arrests will be made for lateness where public transport is clearly the issue.

Otiende Amolo said:

While I Support All Governmental Pronouncements On Safety Measures, I do not support the Police Violence Witnessed In Likoni, Nairobi & Elsewhere. This Is A WAR Against The Virus, NOT Against The Citizens!

Donald Kipkorir had no mercy for the victims in his tweet he said:

Kenyans were given sufficient notice about #CurfewKenya .. When Curfew is declared, normal laws don’t apply .. Did Kenyans expect Police to greet them with flowers after 7pm? If we can’t respect CURFEW, what happens when State of Emergency is imposed & TOTAL LOCKDOWN?

Which way for the victims of police brutality
