After cases of graft appearing in the media and some governors being arrested and being charged and subsequently being bared from office, the council of governors has taken issue with Nation media for publish their stories. The council has directed all the governors to ask their officers not to engage the nation media when they are planning to make public announcements through the media. The directives are as here contained in the letter.
Making a comment on the matter Kipchumba Murkomen had this to say,
” COG under the leadership of @GovWOparanya has become parochial,petty&myopic. A story about governors is not about the county. Does it mean County advertisements are dished based on the benevolence of individual governors? Why are governors interfering with procurement matters”
Other Kenyans have also expressed displeasure concerning this matter, Saddique Shaban has also said, ” The threat by Wycliffe Oparanya to withhold advert revenue to Nation Media Group ought to be dismissed with contempt. There are clear avenues for redress on this matter. The letter has only strengthened the media’s resolve to hold him and his fellow governors to full account”
