Kakamega Air strip receives a new facelift thanks to Oparanya and Cs Wamalwa’s efforts.

Rehabilitation of Kakamega Airstrip has finally started as we target to upgrade it to international standards.

During the groundbreaking ceremony at the airstrip, Gov Oparanya urged the community to be ready and willing to give space for the expansion for the airstrip as they will be fully compensated.

The airstrip is important to the economy of county and region as it will be boost the business and also connect the region to the world.

Phase one will include rehabilitation of the 1.2 kilometer runway to the standard that can hold cargo flights.

During the second phase the runway will be expanded to 2 kilometers.

“This project is part of many projects that we agreed with President Uhuru Kenyatta as leaders from Western Region.

I thank Cabinet Secretary Hon Eugene Wamalwa for the key role he is playing to ensure implementation of the projects and revamping stalled projects in the region.” Oparanya said
