Hamisi constituency is one of the 5 sub-counties that form Vihiga county.
The constituency boast of some larger than life leaders such as the late Mmaitsi, the late Khaniri the late Onamu and the immidiate former Vihiga senator Hon George Khaniri scion of the late Nicodemus Khaniri.
Hamisi holds the record as the only Vihiga county constituency to defy Moi and vote in an opposition MP during the early multi part days.
The constituency is currently represented by Hon Gimose who is currently serving his third term albeit on three different political parties ie Federal Party, Ford Kenya and now ANC.
Gimose has become the proverbial cat with 9 political lives. Just like Amalinze the cat in Achebe’s things fall apart, one Elphas Boge wants to pull an Okwonkwo on Gimose.
But who is Elphas Boge?
Born some 40yrs ago in Shiru area of Hamisi constituency, Elphas attended Makuchi primary school where he sat his KCPE before joining Kaimosi boys High school for his KCSE.
Upon clearing his KCSE, Boge moved to Nairobi where he studied business management before venturing into business specialising in supplies.
Elphas has always been a leader from a young age, his demonstration of leadership from an early stage is what plunged him into politics since 2007.
“From 2007, my interest in politics started.I have always joined campaign trail and interacted with several political leaders in Hamisi area. I have a passion to serve my people.” Says Boge.
Service to humanity is service to God~Boge.
Elphas Boge has been running several initiatives in Hamisi all aimed at empowering and changing lives.
In his own accord, Boge is currently sponsoring over 70 students from humble backgrounds in Hamisi area.
“Education remain dear to my heart, an educated society is an empowered society.This is why my agenda number one is to ensure many children get educated.In Hamisi we have Kaimosi Teachers College, Kaimosi University and several tertiary institutions. It pains my heart to see very few of our children joining these institutions hence my desire to help change things” Boge.
Besides education Boge has also set out an ambitious project where he is putting up houses for the disadvantaged families in Hamisi. So far he has done over 200 semi permanent houses in Hamisi.
“I was born and raised in the village, I know the pain of sleeping under a leaking roof. This is what has driven me into helping put up houses for my people.” added Boge.
In Muhudu and Makuchi areas , the jiggers menace is still causing trouble. Mr Boge is at the forefront in helping eradicate this as well.

Elphas does .not believe in politics of ridicule, arrogance or just running for the sake of winning.
“Our current MP has done some good work but I believe I can move our constituency to a new level. I have the zeal, passion and the will to serve my people. It is about time the people of Hamisi tried some new energies and that new person is yours truly Elphas Boge” he said.
Boge is promising to delve much on education, water, road networks and people empowerment for social economic stability.
‘There is no dignity in poverty, as MP I Will try my best to lobby friends and development partners to troop to Hamisi and help in our economic agenda by initiating several money generating projects” concluded Boge
