Ngatia promises to provide condusive atmosphere for business growth in Nairobi.

Nairobi, Tuesday 5th April, 2022:

Nairobi Gubernatorial front runner the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) president Richard Ngatia has promised he will create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive once he is elected as the fourth Nairobi governor.

Speaking today, during a morning breakfast radio show in a popular Radio Africa owned vernacular station Gukena FM, Ngatia said that he will be a leader who understands the business sector to ensure that the business environment in Nairobi is favourable from the small businesses to big multinationals who want to invest in Nairobi.

Noting that he was bringing business to politics Ngatia said that every politician has changed tune and is now speaking of the plight of business.

“I want to be a leader who understands the business front in Nairobi. I have consulted widely and I know businesses will thrive now that the African continental free trade area is open,” Ngatia said.

“As the KNCCI president and chairman of the Great Lakes Region Private Sector Forum- which brings together 12 countries in the Lake Victoria basin, I have looked at how our peers operate and we can be a leader in the region. Many foreign investors have the interest to invest here. I want to be that person to spearhead the commercial transformation of the city from the SMEs all the way to the big companies and foreign investors,” the business mogul said.

“It will not be about what I will do but rather what we will do and that is because I have consulted widely and I have learnt that the problems of Nairobi need concerted effort,” he added.

Ngatia said that KNCCI had mapped out the problems facing the small traders in Nairobi and had partnered with the Kenya Bankers Association as well as organisations like the mastercard foundation to ensure that the business people are able to access loans and donor grants in order to support their businesses.
