” Our Trade Unions must come out actively on matters of worker’s welfare especially at this time. Reports on workers victimization by some employers must quickly be addressed by the unionists “
We all know Kenya has only on Union that is supposed to speak to workers. But going by latest events, the trade unionist is more concerned with politics of succession that dealing with plight of workers.
At this moment many workers are being laid off, some companies are downsizing but the protector of workers is busy holding meetings to plan for 2022 elections. Sometimes people wonder, did Cotu become a political party or the Sg of Cutu is transforming himself into a politician an not workers fighter anymore.
There has never been a time in history where workers needed the Cotu direction like today, there has never been such a time when all workers are affected and need protection like today, remember this is the only year where workers will spend their holiday ” labour day” without ” a promise of tomorrow is a better day.
This year’s Labour day, many workers will celebrate it in their homes and there will be no pomp and colour at Uhuru park. So the country will wait to see how the Cotu Sg will address the plight of workers.
