From Nairobi Streets to Africa’s Big Stage!
Once the city’s giant-killing underdogs, Nairobi United are now Africa-bound — fuelled by Sakaja Foundation’s backing and a KSh10M boost from President Ruto that has tongues wagging about a possible stake. Today, the CAF draw in Dar es Salaam will reveal their first-ever continental opponents

Kenya’s football underdogs Nairobi United will today discover their maiden CAF Confederation Cup opponents when the official draw is conducted in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The Naibois, who stunned Gor Mahia in the Mozzart Bet Cup final, are making history with their first-ever continental appearance. Backed by the Sakaja Foundation, the team’s profile has risen sharply — and even more after President William Ruto gifted them KSh10 million last month, igniting speculation that the Head of State could have an ownership stake. Whether fact or rumour, the boost has supercharged their preparations.

Placed in Pot 2, Nairobi United will dodge fellow Pot 2 contenders like Rayon Sport FC (Rwanda), Azam FC (Tanzania), and NEC FC (Uganda), but could face African heavyweights from Pot 1, including Asante Kotoko (Ghana), Génération Foot (Senegal), and Abia Warriors (Nigeria).

Pot 3 features strong sides such as Zesco United (Zambia), Kabuscorp (Angola), and Ferroviário de Maputo (Mozambique), while ranked clubs like Kaizer Chiefs (South Africa) and Étoile Sportive du Sahel (Tunisia) will join in the Preliminary Round.

CAF has already exempted continental giants like Wydad AC (Morocco), USM Alger (Algeria), and Zamalek SC (Egypt) from the Preliminary Round.

The road to glory begins 19–21 September with the first leg of the Preliminary Round, followed by the return leg 26–28 September 2025.

From the bustling streets of Nairobi to Africa’s grand football stage, Nairobi United are proof that big dreams — and the right backing — can take you anywhere.
