Nairobi the way we want it declares Igathe as he woes city Luhyas

The Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant under Azimio one Kenya alliance Polycarp Igathe has today held a meeting with Mulembe nation leaders drawn from all the 17 sub counties of Nairobi.
Flanked by his running mate Hon Philip Kaloki, the gubernatorial aspirant had a bag of goodies a waiting Nairobians once he forms the next government.

In what he termed as Nairobi jinsi tunavyoitaka (Nairobi the way we want it) Igathe promised to end the long reign of brokers and cartels that have derailed service delivery at the city hall.

Igathe enumerated his rich track record in the corporate world much to the changrin of the over 500 luhya leaders in attendance at Sagret hotel.
“It is about time we held a candid conversation on how we can make Nairobi better. I have a chequared career from 1996 when I first got a job at the coke cola company. I have left a trail of excellence whenever I have stepped. Throught my career and even during my school days with Hon Wycliffe Wangamati, my relationship with luhyas has always been superb. It is against this backdrop that I want to beseech you all to walk with me as I seek to make Nairobi better.Together with my brother Hon Philip Kaloki, we shall make Nairobi great again” said Igathe.
On his part, the Deputy governor designate Prof Philip Kaloki thanked luhya leaders present for making the right move to back Azimio.

“For the past five years I have been in Uhuru’s government,I got a rare prestige of working with Luhyas.This enabled me to oversee the construction of KMTC colleges in Ikolomani, Nabakholo and Shianda. Luhyas are indeed very hardworking people and with your support, Igathe and I will transform Nairobi” Kaloki said.
Igathe given a luhya name ‘Wafula’
The gathering broke into song and dance when a speaker at the forum one Mama Angaya proposed that Igathe adopts a luhya name. This was after the leaders unanimously came to terms with the fact that Tim Wanyonyi will not be contesting the Nairobi governorship after all.

Igather was therefore named Pycarp Igathe Wafula as the gathering broke into song mwana wa mberi which is luhya for first born. The song is revered among the luhyas for it is reserved for only leaders and high performers among the luhya people. The ne Wafula loosely translate to rain or one born during the rainny season.
While accepting the name Wafula, Igathe promised to live upto the expectetations and honor bestowed unto him.
“The name Wafula is officially my name. I will be touring all the 17 subcounties of Nairobi and as I knock on your doors, I will not come empty handed, I will come with salad for mamas, milk for the young ones and even wazees will get their sodas. However as you drum up support for me, kindly consider our Captain Raila Amolo Odinga. With Baba at the helm and Igathe Wafula as your governor, Kenya and Nairobi will be great again.
