AFC Leopards the oldest and most supported club in Kenya is gearing up for elections  on June 29th.

With the club constitution clear that nobody can serve for more than the two terms, the position of club treasurer will be vacant thanks to the ineligibility of Oliver Napali the outgoing club treasurer who has done his two terms.

#  Kanyangi Patrick.
Mr Kanyangi Patrick a diehard Ingwe fan is also the immediate former MCA  for Eastleigh South. The Kiambiu Salem branch member has been traversing several Ingwe branches selling his manifesto. But who is Kanyangi?

“Iam a Kenyan born in Western part of this country in what is typically called the Mulembe Nation. My journey with Ingwe dates back to over 40 years ago where as a young boy,I would sneak into City stadium just to go watch AFC Leopards play. As a young man then, we all looked upto Joe Kadenge as our childhood hero. Then Came Francis Kadenge and we were all initiated into Ingwe. I have fond memories of Ingwe playing against Africa’s giants like Kalamu FC from Zaire now DRC, Asante Kotoko of Ghana just to mention but a few. I knew Ingwe as a conquering giant” he says.

Patrick who currently spends time tending to his vast businesses in the city after taking a break from politics never misses Ingwe matches.

"Away from politics and a way from my business engagements, I unwind by watching Ingwe matches. The last  27 years have been very sad for us. It is this sadness that has driven me into seeking a position at our club so that I can help turn around this great club" added Kanyangi.

Time to end trophy drought and impunity at the den-Kanyangi.

One of his mission at AFC leopards is to help streamline how revenue is not only sourced but to put in place structures that will help seal loop holes for theft and wastage.

“Monies meant for the growth of this club should only be used specifically for that sole purpose. Revenue from jersies, sponsors and gate collections should all hit the club’s account as stipulated by our constitution. In the recent past, we have seen self serving individuals who come to AFC just to loot and go without helping transform the club. Under my watch as club treasurer, members should expect transparency and accountability on how their money is utilized.”

Kanyangi insists that Ingwe is a brand that if well managed, it can attract multiple sponsors and not just one.

“A beautiful girl will always attract worthy suitors. AFC Leopards is that beautiful lady but due to inept management we are struggling we must end this. Ingwe members have an opportunity to change this club. Give me an opportunity to serve and we shall all enjoy as we bring back the lost glory ” added Patrick Kanyangi.

Hon Kanyangi Patrick is fired up for the role of club treasurer. He boasts that the  many years of public service, business acumen and people management will be key in helping him deliver at the den.

Will Patrick Kanyangi become the next Ingwe Treasurer. The answer to this question shall be delivered on 29th of June.
But to achieve his dream Kanyangi must navigate past Dr Edward Buhasho and Newton Lime both of whom have declared their intentions for treasurer’s position.
