Raila endorses Lucy Mworia for Isiolo North as Mbus party join Azimio

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader and Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga yesterday drummed up support for the Development Empowerment Party (DEP) Isiolo North parliamentary candidate Lucy Mworia.

Raila endorsed the former Ms President Reality TV Show contestant saying she is the best bet for the Isiolo North parliamentary seat.

“Vote for Mama, I know her very well she was in ODM and I am sure that she will deliver on her mandate as the area Member of Parliament (MP),” said Raila.

The former Prime Minister endorsed Mworia, an award winning nurse for the seat, when he attended the Mbus party meeting in Meru. During the meeting, DEP led by Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi declared that they had joined the Azimio la Umoja alliance bandwagon.

Murungi officially announced that his Devolution Empowerment Party porpularly known as Mbus has joined the Azimio La Umoja movement and the party will back ODM leader Raila Odinga in his fifth Presidential bid.

The party’s meeting on Tuesday, attended by Raila, was a precursor ahead of its National Delegates Conference that will be held on March 18, 2022.

Kiraitu said that the party made the move after analysing what the people were saying about their future.

“We have done the research, talked to opponents, and listened to confidential reports. I can confidently tell you that the fifth President of the Republic of Kenya is no other than Raila Odinga,” Murungi said.

During the meeting, Raila thanked the governor for inviting him and joining the movement.

The Governor has announced that he will defend his seat in the August 9th elections on a DEP ticket under the Azimio La Umoja political alliance.

Kiraitu will now battle it out with Meru Senator Mithika Linturi who recently launched his gubernatorial bid.

Mithika will be using the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party of Deputy President William Ruto to challenge Kiraitu for the post.
