Hon. Kennedy Swaka Unveils Transformative Upgrade Plan for Gatina Dispensary

Gatina Ward MCA Hon. Kennedy Swaka has unveiled a sweeping infrastructure and service delivery enhancement plan for Gatina Dispensary, marking a pivotal moment in the ward’s public healthcare agenda.

Speaking during a strategic board meeting attended by senior health officials, facility administrators, and local community leaders, Hon. Swaka outlined a three-pronged initiative aimed at overhauling the dispensary’s capacity and standards of care.

At the heart of the plan is the establishment of a fully equipped diagnostic laboratory, designed to vastly improve testing and early detection capabilities. Complementing this is a comprehensive upgrade of the dispensary’s pharmaceutical and medical equipment, ensuring consistent availability of quality treatment. A major highlight of the plan is the construction of a new maternity wing, which will provide antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care — a critical addition in a ward where maternal services remain in high demand.

These improvements are not just cosmetic — they are structural and systemic,” said Hon. Swaka. “We are investing in the health of this community, bringing essential services closer to the people, and laying the foundation for a facility that can serve future generations with dignity and care.”

The dispensary has already recorded several early wins under Swaka’s stewardship. Security lighting and a newly installed gate have enhanced both safety and accessibility, while the arrival of essential medicines has significantly improved service reliability. A modern sanitation block has also been completed, addressing long-standing hygiene concerns and aligning the facility with public health best practices.
