Esports Federation Kenya set to hold its first ever Elections in Kenya.

When the Export bug hit the world, Kenya was not left behind. Electronic gaming has gathered momentum and from 2018  when the Federation came into existence  by duly being registered  as a sport entity, a lot has been down with Kenya showcasing its talent across the globe.


Known as Electronic Sports Kenya Federation or Esports Kenya Federation, today marks  the 1st election since being founded in the country.

A total of 9 elective seats will be contested. As below.


President (Mwaniki Mwanzia vs Ronny Lusigi)
– 1st Vice President (John Ojiambo – unopposed)
– 2nd Vice President (Celine Lerosion vs Anne Odhaimbo)
– Secretary General – ( Omarsadik Mohamed – unopposed)
– Treasurer – ( Hellen Kairu vs Lydia Bisieri)
– Corporate Member Representative – Michael Lulu
– Life Member Representative – John Shimaka
– Organizing Secretary (Elisha Kiplagat – Unopposed)
– Athletes Representative – (Brian Ochanda vs Moses Koech
)


The federation being a  member of the Global Esports Federation, demands that observers from the ministry of sports , Registrar of sports and Kenya National sports council be present as observers lest the excercise is rendered null and void.

Daggers drawn in the presidential race!

The race for the top seat has attracted two candidates. Mr Mwaniki Mwanzia a renowned city lawyers shall be battling it out with the youthful and maverick Index CEO Ronny Lusigi.

The race will be interesting considering that Mr Mwaniki has the full backing of the outgoing president Mr John Shimaka.

Speaking to www.goodmorningKenya.com, Mr Lusigi himself an export enthusiast  exuded confidence that his track record in the Export world shall give the delegates drawn from all the 47 branches reason to hand him the mandate.

” I am upto the challenge a head, the work we have done in not only nurturing talent but exposing it to the outside world speaks volume on what we are set to achieve once handed the mandate of steering  esport in Kenya. Besides the government is encouraging us to go digital and one way of going digital is incalcating  esport as an integral element among our young people. I have no doubt I will emerge as the next president  esport Kenya” said Lusigi.

The current Secretary General Omar Sadik shall be retaining his seat unopposed. While  the 2nd Vice President position has drawn interest from new comers Anne Omondi and Celine Lerosion

The treasurer position will also have a new office bearer as Lydia Bisieri and Hellen
Kairu seek to replace the outgoing treasurer.

The event shall take place at the Ngong Hills Hotel in Nairobi.
