‘Beware of those wrecking your ship from within’ Sakaja told as Ntoiti jostles for position at city hall.

Mr Ntoiti

Nairobi city county governor Hon Johnson Sakaja has been urged to remain true to his Siasa safi rada safi mantra as he serves all Nairobians equally. This is after a section of the print media published stories of alleged misunderstanding between Sakaja and hjs deputy Hon Muchiri.

Governor Sakaja has since rubbished the stories turning them as an unfounded idle talk that donot merit his rebuttal. The governor also reiterated that he enjoys good working relationship with both Hon Gachagwa and Mr president whom he termed as his bosses.

These narratives gained credence after it was alleged that the DP and DG are pushing to have someone from mount Kenya assume the position of county secretary which is currently being held by Mr Patrick Analo albeit on acting capacity.

Competency and not cronyism should be key in filling top county positions” Sakaja told.

When Governor Sakaja assumed office, he opted to retain Dr Jairus Musumba who had served subsequent regimes of both Gov Sonko and Gov Kananu. Upon forming his government, he advertised for the County secretary’s position and many people applied. Dr Musumba who was serving as CS in acting capacity applied too, got short listed but was rejected by the county assembly in what many political commentators called ‘murky city hall politics’. Among those who applied and got shortlisted is one Mr John Ntoiti.

Nomadic Ntoiti back at city hall, is he a man on a mission to shipwreck Sakaja’s ship from within?

The “nomadic” Ntoiti served as CEC in Governor Kidero’s administration in-charge of county administration. Exit Kidero enter Sonko and Ntoiti’s term was never renewed forcing him to seek refuge in Meru where Governor Kiraitu made him the County revenue board boss. As fate would have it, Governor Kiraitu was also replaced by Governor Kawira Mwangaza which for the second time rendered Ntoiti jobless.

With Governor Mwangaza not interested in his services, Ntoiti the nomad returned to Nairobi where he applied for the position of assistant director county administration in Governor Sakaja’s administration never mind this was a much junior position than what he previously held during Kidero’s regime.

According to city hall operatives who are privy to the goings on there, Governor Sakaja is so determined to only hire competent Kenyans who are in-sync with his thinking of a better and greater Nairobi under the ‘lets make Nairobi work’ clarion call.

Governor Sakaja is not interested in rewarding cronyism or any tribal henchmen. He has spelt out what he want achieved in his first term, no amount of blackmail or arm twisting will make him yield to such outrageous demands of tribal based city politics. Come look at Ntoiti for example, bad luck keeps following him, he was with Kidero and Kidero lost, moved to Meru under Kiraitu and the same fate befell Kiraitu under Kawira Mwangaza. He applied for the CS position, got shortlisted but Sakaja trusted Dr Musumba who succumbed to the dirty city hall politics. The current unprecedented campaign to arm-twist Sakaja into having Ntoiti as CS is ill advised and the political undertones decorating his perceived suitability donot have the requisite weight to propel him to the top. We cannot sacrifice competency at the alter of misguided tribal jingoism. Gone are the days of “mutu wetu politics and instead lets go for competency, astituteness , zeal and willingness to serve Nairobians well which we believe the current Ag County CS Mr Analo is doing diligently. Infact Sakaja, Muchiri and Analo have formed an amazing team at city hall which is all that we need to transform Nairobi” a city hall insider who did not wish to be named confided in us.

So far Mr Analo has done a commendable job which has earned him admiration from both staff and county MCA’s who opine that his open door policy, readiness to listen and offer timely solutions make him the best bet for the job permanently.

“We get along well with the Ag county CS, he understands the going in at city hall thanks to his vast experience gained from over 15 years of service. Analo has risen in ranks by merit and the least we can do is to approve his name once it is brought before us. The narrative going round that the DP is meddling is being propagated by those who are wishing that the governor fails. These are enemies of progress who have no place in a modern Nairobi” an MCA aligned to Jubilee party was quoted.

The pro Ntoiti crusaders urgue that they must have someone from Mt Kenya occupying prime position. Besides the DG coming from the mountain, Governor Sakaja has also appointed Christine Ireri as Ag County attorney. If anything is to go by, a person from Mt Kenya East is occupying a prime slot in Sakaja’s administration.

A majority of Nairobians who spoke to www.goodmorningKenya.com are of the view that Governor Sakaja is better off serving all Nairobians equally and giving opportunities to those capable of serving as opposed to those pushing for the outdated mtu wetu politics.
