Punda amechoka, says Aladwa as he urges fellow MPs to reject the Finance bill 2023

Makadara MP George Aladwa has termed the proposals in the finance bill as ridiculous, punitive and unsustainable in the current day Kenya.

Speaking over the weekend in Vihiga county, Aladwa who has also declared inteest for the Vihiga governorship in 2027 urged fellow law makers to be alive to wananchi’s expectations and reject the proposals in totality.

“My fellow Honourable members should have an ear to the kenyans who voted for them. Finance bill is not healthy at this time when the citizens are struggling with the high cost of living.
As a nation we are grappling with many challenges and an attempt to overburden citizens with unnecessary taxes is I’ll advised. Instead, the Government should be crafting policies that aim at cushioning Kenyans from the high cost of living.” said the lawmaker
.

The Kenya Kwanza government  has proposed  a raft of measures that will see taxes increased in order to help the it raise the much needed revenue.

However the proposals have encountered opposition with Azimio leaders instructing its troops in parliament to vote against the proposals that have so far become unpopular with Kenyans.

Azimio is set to hold its parliamentary group meeting on Tuesday morning ahead of the resumption of the national assembly seatings after a long recess
