Raila, Kananu spearhead city voter registration
Nairobi, Tuesday 18th, 2022: Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga today joined Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu during the launch of the mass voter registration drive in Nairobi County at City Hall, Nairobi.
The voter drive is aimed at mobilising Nairobi residents to register in their numbers during the 21 day registration period that started yesterday ahead of the August 9th, 2022 general elections.

Speaking during the launch, Raila, who was accompanied by Azimio la Umoja top leadership urged Nairobi residents to take advantage of the registration window to register themselves, as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) seeks to register over four million new voters.
Governor Kananu said that City Hall will be open for Nairobi residents who wish to register themselves. “We will be open and we call upon all Nairobi residents who are not registered by IEBC to turn up and have themselves registered as this is the only way that they will be able to make their choices at the upcoming general elections,” Kananu said.
The city Governor called upon the IEBC to ensure there are enough kits in Nairobi to register as many people as possible as she drummed support for her gubernatorial race during the elections.

“I urge IEBC to ensure the kits are ready and working and call upon the people of Nairobi to register so that come August, you will be there to vote for Governor Kananu for the development of the city,” Kananu added.

Sen Kwamboka and Makadara Mp Hon Aladwa too graced the launch.

According to Raila, time has come for everyone to remind their neighbour to come out and register. “If you know that your neighbour has not registered, it is your duty to bring them out and let them register,” Raila said.
ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna said that he will be personally responsible to marshalling people to come and register themselves.
