Sofapaka boss Elly Kalekwa demands an apology from Afc’s Dan Shikanda. Read here why.

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side and 2009 Champions Sofapaka President Mr Elly Kalekwa is demanding an apology from AFC Leopards boss Dr Dan Shikanda for demeaning the team, despite all the accolades that the 2009 league winners boast.

“What Dr Shikanda is talking all over is demeaning not only to the Batoto ba Mungu family but to the soccer fraternity at large” Prezda Kalekwa said.

During a live radio show with a local station on Saturday afternoon Dr Shikanda is alleged to have said,

“Without Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, there is no football in Kenya. I just know KCB as a bank and not a football team and I have never known a team calling itself Sofapaka or something like that”.
This part is what is driving Kalekwa crazy

“This is lack of respect and we dont take it lightly. We demand immediate apology from AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda.

Dr Shikannda should know that Sofapaka is in the world history books as one of the few teams that won the main league on it’s debut. If he were to be given this team to run for even two months he will end up selling his grand father’s land,” said Kalekwa.

“The professional code of conduct demand that we respect all teams actively playing soccer in our country” added Kalekwa.

“AFC Leopards was once relegated did the league stop? It is unfair to demean other teams and especially Sofapaka has represented the country at the continental competitions more than AFC Leopards and we even enjoy a better head-to-head record over them,” lamented Kalekwa.

Kalekwa further re ignited the controversy surrounding Soter Kayumba a Rwandese defender who switched from Sofapaka to Afc at a tune of 700 000ksh which Shikanda is yet to honor. The Batoto Ba Mungu boss now want Afc’s boss to honor the deal before demeaning his team
