Jubilee has not endorsed anyone for Nairobi, Kagure says

Businesswoman Agnes Kagure has exuded confidence that she will emerge victorious in the contest for Nairobi County’s gubernatorial seat in the upcoming August 2022 General Election.
Kagure, who is seeking the Jubilee party ticket to run under the Azimio La Umoja coalition has rubbished talk of a preferred candidate in the Azimio fold noting that her manifesto, which she launched in January, coupled with her track record will win her the ticket and Nairobians should get ready for new city with better governance.
Speaking ahead of the Azimio La Umoja grand rally that will be held today at the Jacaranda grounds in Embakasi, Kagure said that nobody should lie to people that either Jubilee or Azimio movement had settled on a preferred candidate for the governorship of Nairobi and people should be ready to face her in the party primaries and the ballot come august polls.
“I have said that I want to dedicate my life to improving Nairobi, to move you from the city of lamentation to the city of jubilation and this position has not changed because we are steadily in the race to win,” Kagure.
Yesterday, Kagure and her campaign team held a late evening meeting with ODM leader and Azimo la Umoja presidential hopeful Raila Odinga ahead of today’s meetings at the Kenyatta International Convention Center KICC and Jacaranda grounds where Raila assured Kagure’s team that Azimio had not settled on any preferred candidate and the former prime minister had not endorsed anyone for the gubernatorial seat in Nairobi

“Raila assured me categorically that he has not endorsed anybody for the Nairobi Gubernatorial race,” Kagure said.
This meeting was held even as indications point to the possibility of Raila been seen to seriously support of the possibility of Agnes Kagure as the sole Azimio la Umoja Gubernatorial candidate in Nairobi.
During her manifesto launch, Kagure gave a five-point plan she will use to chart Nairobi’s future should she emerge victorious at the upcoming polls.
The plan focuses on improving safety, expanding manufacturing, creating jobs, revamping water sources and reorganizing public transport in the city.
“I will focus on providing clean water supply, good sanitation and reliable healthcare services. Clean drinking water is a safe bet for better hygiene and access to it has an impact on the quality of human health,” she said.
In collaboration with the private sector, Kagure said she will facilitate the establishment of new investments in the manufacturing sector and support city-based SMEs. Areas reserved for businesses, Kagure added, will also be more accessible and well serviced so as to attract both foreign and local investors.
Kagure also underscored that she would strive to address traffic congestion in the city which she says is an impediment to Nairobi’s social-economic growth while also promising to create a million jobs for youth in her first five years in office.
