They want the Football Kenya Federation to invest more in women football to initiate its growth.

Vihiga United Head Coach Alex Alumira has doubted the logic behind spending 240 million a season for Kenya Premier League while only 12 million is spent for 16 WPL teams in the same season.

“1.2 Billion in 5 years translates to 240 Million per year. If the 16 teams from KPL get 8M each, it comes to 128 Million. From the remaining 112 M, WPL and Div 1 W get nothing. They have to wait for affiliation fees to get 12 Million that the 16 WPL teams will share.

Is it logical?” Said Alumira. Next season KPL teams are assured of at least 8 million from the league sponsor while their counterparts WPL will pocket 750,000 each during the same season.

Other women tacticians have welcomed the deal saying it is better than nothing. Here are some of the reactions from the women tacticians.

“We are worried because without enough money we are bound to see more walkovers next season” “At least if men teams get 8 million, we should have been given 4 million.

That would be a fair ratio” Nick Mwendwa yesterday announced that FKF has secured 1.2B for five years. Many pundits have questioned the day with some terming it as a campaign gimmick aimed at endearing delegates on his side.

With the entry of former Afc leopards chairman Mr Dan Mule in the race, Mwendwa’s time at the helm is ticking by.

12 million for 16 teams competing in the Kenya Women Premier League for the whole of next season is far too small, WPL coaches say.
