Aziz, who was the leader of the multi-national Benga Africa Band, and later Ngoma Afrika, had long retired from performing live music and had been battling diabetes and hypertension in and out of hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He mainly did part-time music away from his regular work, which was in the\u00a0manufacture of paints.Speaking to the\u00a0media,\u00a0Mr Kombo Kala, a cousin of the singer,\u00a0said he had been quite ill in the past\u00a0one month, but\u00a0his condition worsened on Saturday evening.

A doctor at the hospital\u00a0in Voi has confirmed the cause of death as a heart\u00a0condition,\u00a0which was compounded by\u00a0extended hypertension and\u00a0diabetes<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to his wife Jamilla Ndinda Kasalu a media personality, Mzee was laid to rest on Saturday according to Muslim burial rites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aziz Abdi was a mong the few greats from Taita Taveta county who put Kenya on the music world map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other greats from Taita Taveta include Fadhil Williams Mdawida of Malaika hit and Habel Kifoto of maroon commandoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Veteran broadcaster Fred Obachi Machoka had this to say.
