The petition argues that their offices are directly linked to a waiver chain that enabled the importation of substandard fuel into the country.
According to the movement, ongoing investigations have already resulted in arrests and resignations among junior officials, raising questions about accountability at the highest levels. Mtetezi maintains that the continued stay in office of the two CSs undermines public confidence in the integrity of the investigative process.
The petition further highlights the assault on Awino as a sign of growing intimidation surrounding the scandal, warning that such actions threaten constitutional rights and democratic participation.
In addition to seeking the removal of the two Cabinet Secretaries, the court filing calls for their immediate suspension pending investigations, enhanced protection for whistleblowers and public interest petitioners, and accountability for individuals involved in the violence against Awino and members of the press.
Mtetezi says the attack signals a troubling shift from a governance dispute to a broader crisis involving assault, suppression of free expression, and violations of public participation rights.
\u201cThis cannot be allowed to continue,\u201d the movement stated, insisting that decisive action must now be taken
