Wajiji to the Ballot: Former AFC Leopards Boss Dan Mule Declares Bid for Mavoko MP Seat
Former AFC Leopards chairman and businessman Dan Mule has officially declared his intention to vie for the Mavoko Constituency parliamentary seat in the 2027 general elections, setting the stage for what could become one of the most closely watched political contests in Machakos County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Mule, a flamboyant entrepreneur widely known for his passion for football and philanthropy, is expected to inject fresh energy into the Mavoko race. His influence extends beyond Mavoko, with a strong network built across the Ukambani region through both business and sports.
His rise to prominence surprised many when he defeated seasoned contenders, including businessman Maurice Amahwa and city lawyer Robert Asembo, to become one of the few non-Luhya leaders to head AFC Leopards. During his tenure, Mule stabilized the club, which had long been plagued by internal wrangles, and successfully secured multiple sponsorship deals restoring confidence among supporters and stakeholders.
Political observers now argue that if Mule translates the same leadership and organizational discipline to governance, Mavoko could witness significant transformation. Notably, his time at AFC Leopards saw the club\u2019s fanbase expand into the Ukambani region, with new branches established in areas such as Mbooni, Machakos, and Makueni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many young people have credited his efforts with steering them away from crime and substance abuse<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDan Mule is a true leader who means well for the youth. We have benefitted immensely from him and we can now play soccer with hope even as we shun crime and drugs,\u201d said one local youth.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n


Answering the Call
Speaking to Good Morning Kenya, Mule described his political ambition as a response to persistent calls from residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe people of Mavoko have been knocking on my door requesting me to step forth and offer leadership as their next Member of Parliament. The call is both daunting and humbling. My people mean a lot to me and serving them in that capacity will be satisfying. We intend to change lives by prudently utilising the public resources meant for the people of Mavoko. I will be launching my elaborate manifesto soon and education, youth and women empowerment and infrastructure will be my focal point,\u201d said Mule<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n


With the current MP reportedly eyeing the Machakos gubernatorial seat, Mule\u2019s entry significantly reshapes the political landscape in Mavoko ahead of 2027.
