Robert Alai"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to the <strong>Nairobi governorship<\/strong>, let\u2019s get serious. I\u2019ve served in both the <strong>County Assembly<\/strong> and within the <strong>executive<\/strong>, and I can tell you this confidently \u2014 we have missed the point entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I disagree with the President on this: <strong>Nairobi\u2019s problem has never been money.<\/strong> This city generates enough revenue not only to fund its operations but also to lend to neighbouring counties. The crisis in Nairobi is not about resources \u2014 it\u2019s about <strong>leadership and mindset<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The biggest mistake we make is treating Nairobi as a political cash cow, a temporary conquest where everyone comes to exploit and then retreats \u201chome.\u201d We forget that <strong>Nairobi <\/strong><em><strong>is<\/strong><\/em><strong> home \u2014 the heartbeat of Kenya, the face of our nation to the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What Nairobi lacks is <strong>dedicated, visionary, long-term leadership.<\/strong> The city doesn\u2019t need panga-wielding, cocaine-sniffing, or pouch-tobacco-chewing managers pretending to govern. Nairobi needs a leader who can <strong>see 100 years ahead<\/strong>, who understands its <strong>cosmopolitan soul<\/strong>, and who realises it cannot be reduced to an ethnic enclave or a tribal trophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>next Nairobi Governor<\/strong> must be a person who can sit in the <strong>Cabinet<\/strong>, hold their own in <strong>global conversations<\/strong>, and articulate a <strong>coherent urban vision<\/strong> \u2014 not another ethnic crusader chasing populism and clout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s be honest: <strong>Moses Kuria, Babu Owino, Johnson Sakaja<\/strong> \u2014 none of them will fix Nairobi. Electing them out of anger or tribal loyalty will not make your city better. You elected Sakaja because he had dimples. Now you want to elect Babu Owino because he can shout <em>Tibim<\/em> and <em>Tialala<\/em> \u2014 and you think that\u2019s progress?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why do we keep <strong>playing games with the capital city<\/strong> of this country? Why do we keep <strong>gambling with Nairobi\u2019s destiny<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s time to rise above slogans and showmanship.<br><strong>Nairobi deserves a thinker, a planner, a doer \u2014 not another tribal mascot.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When it comes to the Nairobi governorship, let\u2019s get serious.
