BUMULA, BUNGOMA<\/strong> \u2013 Fiery, fearless, and unapologetic, ODM Deputy Party Leader Senator Godfrey Osotsi<\/strong> took the battle to Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa<\/strong> on Sunday, accusing him of betrayal, cowardice, and sycophancy during a high-octane rally in Bumula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Speaking before a charged Bukusu crowd, Osotsi\u2014who is also the front-runner for the Vihiga gubernatorial seat in 2027<\/strong>\u2014delivered a scathing rebuke of Barasa’s support for the controversial Finance Bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDidmus Barasa is a coward and a petty sycophant,\u201d Osotsi declared. \u201cHe voted yes<\/em> to a bill that has led to the bloodshed of our Gen Z. That is not leadership, it is betrayal.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n The Senator, increasingly positioning himself as the political voice of Western Kenya, lamented that while Nzoia Sugar is on the verge of collapse<\/strong>, leaders like Barasa have been reduced to silent praise-singers for President William Ruto\u2014whom he mockingly referred to as Zakayo<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBarasa sings for Zakayo as our factories are sold off. The Ruto regime has sidelined Western Kenya in the budget, and yet Didmus says nothing. He stands for absolutely nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n In a sharp contrast, Osotsi praised Bumula MP Jack Wamboka<\/strong>, describing him as the “true Bukusu son”<\/em> who has shown courage in Parliament and taken bold stances on national issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Osotsi\u2019s message went beyond personal attacks\u2014it was a rallying call for dignity, justice, and better representation for the Luhya community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe must reject leaders who are comfortable in silence when our people are suffering. This region needs strong negotiators, not sycophants.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n As ODM\u2019s Deputy Party Leader<\/strong>, Osotsi is also spearheading the party\u2019s calls for accountability in the case of Albert Ojwang<\/strong>, the young protester who died during recent demonstrations. He warned that the broad-based political arrangement with Ruto\u2019s administration<\/strong> is on the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf there is no justice for Albert Ojwang, then the cooperation with Kenya Kwanza must end. We cannot do business with a regime that kills our youth.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n With 2027 on the horizon, Osotsi is not just campaigning\u2014he is shaping the narrative.
