Karakacha became the new chairman of the Matatu Owners Association (MOA) as the 20 year reign of its long serving boss Simon Kimutai came to an end.
Mr Karakacha elected unopposed as the new chairman after his three competitors the association\u2019s Vice Chairman Stephen Murunga, national treasurer Joseph Mungai and MOA Nairobi Chapter chairman Christopher Muia, who had initially expressed interest in the top post stepped down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The board agreed to keep Mr Kimutai in the association as a patron, a position he accepted, saying he would not need much from him apart from advising the leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The results of the elections were announced on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Luke Hotel, Roasters Inn, Thika Road, after the Association held its National Governing Council (NGC) being the second highest decision-making organ that draws regional leadership to deliberate on matters of transport business. MOA is a Business Membership Organization that champions the interests of investors in the transport sector through lobbying and Advocacy.
