Amani National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Simon Gikuru has criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta over his recent public endorsement of ODM leader Raila Odinga in his 2022 presidential bid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking today Monday on Citizen TV\u2019s Day Break show, Mr  Gikuru accused the president of being impractical for dismissing Raila as out-dated during the 2017 General Election, only to present him as the ideal candidate five years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think as Uhuru Kenyatta\u2019s term comes to an end, the more he loses touch with reality. This is the Head of State who campaigned on the platform of digital versus analogue, so you can imagine if a certain product was analogue in 2017, what about now?\u201d quiped Gikuru<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt must have totally expired and unhealthy for consumption. If in 2017 you were telling us a certain candidate is analogue and then you now start giving us an analogy of a mzee who is walking slowly and who will do the marathon\u2026 he must take Kenyans seriously,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gikuru further argued that it is time for Kenyan youths to be given a chance at leadership, saying that Kenya has been led by old people since independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYoung people in this country, and they constitute the majority of the population and voters, can no longer wait to live their dreams and give their contribution to nation building,\u201d stated the Secretary-General<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Just last week, President Kenyatta gave what might be termed as the clearest indication that he is endorsing Raila as his successor, saying age was a non-issue while rooting for peace and national unity as critical ingredients in determining the 5th head of state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMkikuja muambiwe huyu ni mzee hafai, ati tunataka kijana, sijui huyu ako namna hii ama namna ile, mtu anachagua kwa ubongo, uongozi uko kwa akili,\u201d Uhutu said in Nakuru<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Gikuru’s sentiments seem to echo his party leader’s views early in the week.
During an event at Amani house.,Hon Mudavadi who has declared his presidential bid under OKA differed wiyh Uhuru over the endorsement of Raila in Nakuru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We must face it, the president should not dismiss young people of this country. The young people are running fast because they are tired of the old people walking slowly” Mudavadi said.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Mudavadi is expected to give a second shot at the presidency after having run for the first time in 2013 where he emerged 3rd behind Uhuru and Raila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
