The region which has been at cross roads on who to support in 2022 for the last few days seem to have been coalescing towards the former Prime Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governors from the region had issued a press statement with Raila 24 hours earlier before the Safari Park hotel meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe shall plan and coordinate a structured engagement with the region focusing on elected leaders, community leaders, business leaders, farmers\u2019 organisations, the faith organisations and key opinion leaders and shapers in the region,\u201d they said in a joint statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the statement read by Muriithi on the former Prime Minister\u2019s two-day visits of the region, the governors said they discussed among others; expanding local economic opportunities, growth of the economy supported by sound institutions; including cushioning SMEs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tycoons are backing Raila’s candidature even though the region is still searching for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s successor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The elite group popularly known as Mount Kenya Foundation said it had been tasked by the President to present a name of a possible candidate to take over from the President when he retires in August next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A source spilled the beans that the tycoons have been meeting secretly and its chair the owner of Citizen Media, had convinced them that the former Prime Minister was a better bet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter Munga the former chairman of Equity Bank also endorsed Raila Odinga and is pledging to donate half a billion for his campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group is planning for a million a plate lunch that will raise over 5 billion for Raila in January at SafariPark Hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime S.K Macharia is fully sponsoring Raila Odinga campaign messaging on Radio and TV which is costing millions of shillings per day.
