Umoja Summit Party (U.S.P.)moves to fill the void left by the collapse of ANC into UDA
Umoja Summit Party a political outfit led by Hon Godfrey Kanoti a former ally of Hon Musalia Mudavadi has stepped up it’s party activities ahead of 2027 General elections.
With the folding of ANC being a foregone conclusion, many Kenyans orphaned by Mudavadi’s decision have decamped to USP which they believe will offer an alternative political space.
“USP under Godfrey Kanoti and Barack Muluka as SG not only gives us a renewed hope and gusto to express ourselves but also provide us a platform to democratically participate in the multiparty politics of our nation. The party’s progressive ideologies resonate well with the vast majority of us who feel disfranchised by being herded into UDA” James Makwesi from Vihiga said while welcoming the party to set up offices in all the 5 subcounties of Vihiga.
Last weekend, the party’s NEC was in a retreat in Mombasa where plans to popularize the party and rebranding of the same were canvassed.
Speaking to members of the forth estate on the sidelines of the retreat, Mr Godfrey Kanoti the party leader otherwise known as Generali for his efforts in coordinating all Mudavadi’s engagements during his time in ANC said that his party will reclaim and restore the void left by ANC after it merged with UDA.
To do this, the party has effectively roped in former ANC Secretary General Barack Muluka who is a long standing media strategist, and Hon Eric Wafukho a former CAS finance who is also a long standing adviser in Mudavadis circles on matters leadership and governance. Prof Eric Wafukho takes over the role of Organising Secretary of USP.
On whether the outfit is a reincarnation of ANC thanks to the party’s hierarchy being former ANC members and closer allys of Hon Mudavadi, Kanoti said,
“We have no apologies to make over our past closer ties and working with Hon Mudavadi. We also don’t fear people branding our party as a Mulembe party. As Luhyas this party will provide the much needed re awakening amongst our people. Luhyas cannot be the second largest community and play in a lower cadre league as things are currently. We must pull together and demand our rightful position when it comes to deliberating the affairs of this nation. That is why as U.S.P we shall field candidates in all the available position then look for the most attractive suitor and either get the presidency or the running mate position who shall be from the Mulembe nation.”
On whether USP was Mudavadi’s fall back plan should things go south in his marriage with UDA, the straight talking Kanoti said…
Whether Kenyans want to look at it from that perspective it is none of our concern for now. All we know is that we are moving forward and we have a lot of work to do which you shall all see starting now. But should Hon Mudavadi or any other Kenyan fall in love with our ideologies and wish to join our party, the doors are wide open.

The secretary general of USP Barack Muluka has also added his voice on the abductions debate.
Mr Muluka wondered how a the regime has failed to nub the abductors who the police claim not to know how they operate.
“It is the responsibility of the government to protect it’s citizens. A government that cannot do so has no business governing and the noblest thing to do is to step aside or simply resign so that a competent regime can take over.”

Muluka further said under USP extra judicial killings and abductions shall be a thing of the past and rule of law and constitutionalism shall reign supreme.
