Wanyonyi meets Kenya Kwanza honcho as battle for Nairobi heats up

Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi yesterday held a secret meeting with key officials of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance www.goodmorningkenya can exclusively reveal.
The meeting was part of his latest attempts craft a way to win the Azimio La Umoja ticket for the Nairobi gubernatorial race.
According to our sources privy to the meeting, the meeting held at the home of a prominent leader of the Ford Kenya party on the night of Wednesday 2nd February was geared towards cajoling ODM party leader Raila Odinga against agreeing to offer the Azimio La Umoja ticket for the Nairobi governor position to a Mount Kenya candidate.
“Our boss held a meeting Wednesday this week in Nairobi and one of the Co- principals of Kenya Kwanza was present, so he is doing everything possible to force ODM into giving him the Azimio ticket,” Our source told us in confidence.
“His plan is to speak to the Kenya Kwanza leaders so as to pile pressure on Odinga by seeming to use the Luhya voting block as a bait,” He added.
The move has been interpreted in some quarters as a blackmail mission which has not been received well by the ODM top brass.
Also present at the meeting, our source revealed was a UDA party official and a renegade Jubilee party member.
According to observers, Wanyonyi is slowly sliding towards the Kenya Kwanza Alliance due to the fast rising popularity of his opponent Richard Ngatia whose rising odds have placed him as a favourite for the Azimio la Umoja ticket.
Reports indicate that Wanyonyi, who has been prevailed upon to defend his Westlands seat has resorted to tribal politics where he is desperately trying to incite the Luhya community against voting Odinga and therefore jeopardize his presidential votes in Nairobi County.
Wanyonyi has resorted to using bloggers who malign the names of opponents and issuing unsubstantiated graft claims against them and the President’s allies.
