Nairobi, 14th April, 2023
– Today a team from the Youth,Talent and Sports department led by Chief Officer Oscar Igaida met with officials from Athletics Kenya (AK) led by Chairman, Nairobi, Branch Barnaba Korir to deliberate on preparations for the inaugural Nairobi International Marathon set to take place on 21st May, 2023 along the expressway.
The meeting was used to put in place a partnership agreement between the Nairobi City County Government and AK, which will culminate to the signing of an MOU which will be signed by Governor Sakaja and AK President, Jackson Tuwei
Said Chief Officer Sports Igaida,
“Kenya is known as the nation where long-distance athletics champions are produced. We are therefore looking forward to partnering with AK on yet another huge Athletics extravaganza, which will be held in Nairobi. Nairobi has the perfect terrain and weather to host the marathon of this nature if Standard Chartered Marathon is anything to go by. We are looking forward to commencing preparations towards this event.”
